Holistic Nutrition Consulting
Do you want some guidance in the area of nutrition? Are you confused by all the different approaches to eating? Do you have symptoms that you would like to address through your diet?
Maybe you are ready to change your eating habits, but don’t know where to start or want more information about nutrition. Maybe you know or suspect you have a food intolerance. Maybe you have symptoms that you would like to address through the food you eat. Maybe you have a child who is a fussy eater and makes family dinner challenging.
Consulting is for clients who want more information and direction than my coaching clients. In coaching, you are in charge and set the agenda. In consulting, you are looking for me to provide you more insight, expertise, and information. In some cases, clients are experiencing symptoms that are bothering them, whether it is gastrointestinal issues or issues with skin, mood, energy, memory, etc. In these situations, I ask clients to fill out health assessments in order to gain more detailed information on health issues and symptoms.
Clients interested in consulting benefit from working with me when they are ready to make changes. I provide education on the topics of holistic nutrition, mindful eating, metabolic health, inflammation, gut health, epigenetics, and autoimmune disease (among others). I often recommend that consulting clients move into coaching once they have gained the information they need to make changes and are then looking for support and accountability in the change process.
My nutrition consulting philosophy and approach:
I do not believe there is one “right” or “healthy” way to eat. I do believe in some broader, guiding principles of eating, however. I believe:
Food is literally what the cells of our bodies are made of, therefore it is the foundation of our health. If you want to invest in your health, invest in what you eat.
It is important for each person to be aware of how food affects their physical body, mood, energy level, and overall vitality.
Food is a source of nourishment- it should bring pleasure and enjoyment, not guilt and stress.
Food has a long history as a central component to relationships. It can be very fun and rewarding to prepare and share food with others.
My main goals in working with clients around nutrition are to assist you in:
Developing a healthy and positive relationship with food
Developing an awareness of how food affects you
Appreciating the difference between whole foods and processed foods, and moving in the direction of eating more whole foods
Assisting you in finding an approach to eating for the long-term, that brings you greater strength, energy, vitality, and positive mood
Developing a connection with and appreciation for where your food comes from and how to prepare it
Enjoying your food and allowing it to nourish you!
I also like to work with families and believe strongly in the importance of helping children develop their taste buds for real food, creating awareness of where their food comes from and how to prepare it, and cultivating positive relationships with food and their bodies.

What Nutrition Consulting is Not
I have a master's degree in Holistic Health Education with a specialization in Holistic Nutrition. I am not a doctor or a nurse. I do not make any diagnoses or prescribe any medications.
Consulting Rates
Consulting sessions are conducted in person, by phone, or over Zoom.
I am happy to offer a free 20-minute initial conversation for any new client interested in nutrition consulting.
Session lasts 75 minutes. For clients with questions about food and nutrition, but who are not experiencing serious symptoms.

In our first session, we will spend 45 minutes reviewing your health symptoms and health goals. You will then fill out appropriate assessment forms. I will review the forms, and then we will have a 60-minute session to discuss my findings and recommendations from your assessments.

I will come visit your home (or use Zoom) and review what you have in your pantry and refrigerator. We will talk about what food may be serving your health and what food may be detrimental to your health. We will talk about ways to shift your food choices, where and how to find such food, and basic food preparation techniques. This is a 1-hour visit. (Travel fees may apply outside of the Davis area.)
